White Worm Starter Culture

For sale is a White Worm starter culture consisting of live White Worms and culture media packed in a 4" x 3" breathable bag. White Worms are an excellent live food for aquarium fish and, once a healthy culture becomes established can provide a continuous supply of nutritious live worms.

Culturing Instructions

Temperature is the most important factor when culturing White Worms. They prefer cool conditions and will generally stop reproducing at temperatures above 65°F (18°C). For best results, maintain the culture between 50–60°F (10–16°C).

White Worms are easy to feed and we have had equally good results using fish flake food, bread or instant oatmeal. Place the food in a single pile in the centre of the culture and cover it with a small piece of glass or tile. The worms will congregate in clumps around the food making them very easy to harvest.

Keep the culture dark as White Worms are sensitive to light. When provided with cool temperatures, adequate food and suitable conditions the population will multiply steadily. Once a well established culture is producing heavily you can often harvest fresh White Worms every day.

Consider using a wine cooler to house your White Worm cultures. The adjustable temperature makes it easy to keep your cultures consistently within their ideal temperature range, helping maintain strong reproduction and reliable worm production year round.

As a general guideline, we recommend shipping live cultures within the following temperature ranges:

Microworms, Infusoria & Vinegar Eels: 1°C–30°C (34°F–86°F)
Grindal Worms: 1°C–27°C (34°F–80°F)
White Worms: 1°C–20°C (34°F–68°F)

Brine Shrimp, Daphnia, Moina and Rotifer eggs can be safely shipped at all temperatures.
